As there were no particu- lars it is sincerely trusted that his pa- rents Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Somers of Kensington will shortly receive news of his speedy recovery. 3 --IN MEMORY- The flag on the Odd Fellows’ Hall, Summerslde was at half .staff on Thursday for their brother, Lieutenant G. T. Metherall, who has been killed in action after only a short time in France. Lieu- tenant Metherall was a particularly fine type of manhood. He was an oillcer of high ideals with a deep sense of d-uty. He left with the 105th Battalion and while in England was ordained as Chaplain. leaving for France a little over a rponth ago -L. -.PREPARING FOR RACES- The managers of the Kensington trotting Park are rushing along the building of their new track. On Tuesday and Wednesday a number of men with picks and shovels and others with a horse and cart, turned out gratis and gave the works a "push" along. The- lumber -is now on the ground for stables, judges stand and grand stand and in the coarse of a. few days a number of carpenters will be on the job erecting the buildings. The ma- nagement intends to have the works completed and everything in readiness for the opening trot early in the sea- son.-'-H. -TOWN COUNCIL AT KENSING- TON-The regular meeting of the Town Council of Kensington was held Monday evening, June 10th, Mayor Jardine presiding, Councillors pre- sent: lliowness. Champion, Dona- hue, Lockhart. Caseley and Warren. minutes of last meeting read and approved, a number of bills were passed. On motion, J. B. Proiltt and William Goss, were appointed fence viewers for the town. Council- lor Donahue. chairman of Town pro- perty commlttee, reported that it was their intention to havethe Town Lot property set out with turned posts. and chain fence, and ilt up the build- ing thereon. so as to improve its ap- pearance. Policeman Moase reported one arrest for drunkenness. Mayor Jardine called attention to certain dis- orderly conduct on Saturday nights. urging the Policeman to use his autho- rity more' severely. He also referred to the running of automobiles, stating that the Policeman should see that the drivers of such be made to con- form to the rules and regulations.
