Kent Street Iilnkora High School closing Exercises -Kinkorl. Hall was filled beyond capacity on Thursday evening, June 19th on the occasion or the Clos- ing Exercises of the School. The programme opened with a chorus, ”Come Loyal Hearts" which was followed by two numbers in which the primary pupils took part in song and speaking. A group of senior girls danced I graceful old- fashioned minuet with a song "My Mother's Wedding Gown". The final number on the programme was I patriotic pageant expressing the allegiance of the Commonwealth to the new Queen, Elizabeth II. In all of these picturaque and ap- propriate seiections, the children gave evidence of caredul training, and the appreciation of the sun- ience was evident in the enjoyment of the programme. Twenty graduates of the Grade Eleven claw then marched in pro- cession to seats on the stage decor- ated with the class colours, blue and white, where they were pre- sented with l. beautiful basket of flowers by little David Farmer and Noreen Connlck. Miss Corinne Duffy who had been cho- sen by her classmates as class val- edlctorian read the farewell mes- sage of the Class of 1952. The address to the graduates was delivered by Reverend Patrick Mc- Mahon of Charlottetown. Sincerely and eloquently he urged the grad- uates to be grateful for their Christian education which assures them so certainly of being on the right road towards attaining the goal of life, because it trains not only the mind but the will. He emphasized the importance of con- tinuing their education, pointing out the fact that no matter what spe- cial training they received it would be useful in their chosen vocation in life. Finally Doctor McMahon left the graduates the message that if they would be true to their motto, ”Semper Fidelis", that must become men and women or prin- ciple, lmbued with a love of prayer and self-sacrifice - the only hope of the world in its struggle against Communism. Briefs remarks were made by Father Shca, congratulating the studenis and the teachers for the success of the school year. Mr. E.P. Foley. Duffy, second- ed by Mr. J. P. Callaghan and pre- sented by the chairman, Mr. P.L. Morris.
