Treena Gallant Apology The X-Press would like to apologise to the Education Society for the omission from print in our last issue of their “Cupid” promotional ad. This was not an intentional act nor was it in any way indicative of any bias against the Education Society or its members, but was instead merely an isolated error. We regret any inconvenience this has caused the Society or its members, and hope to avoid any such errors in the future. Wen-Do committee launches fundraiser The Wen-Do committee is preparing for a third two-day workshop on May | 4-15. Marilyn Walsh, of Toronto, will be back as our instructor. The committee has had two fundraising events in 1993 and a third fundraiser is having a mild success. First of all, thanks to Alice Faye’s Beauty Salon: Alice Faye generously donated the proceeds from her 6km run last August; and thanks to P.E.I. Road Runners, and to the women and their families who helped organize the event. It was great fun. Women from Montreal, Toronto and New Brunswick and, of course, P.E.I. participated. Thanks to Neil Kinsmen at the Sports Centre, UPEI for classroom space for workshops and space for practices--invaluable help. Thanks to Jenepher for design work. The third fundraiser is called “Safety Cents for Women’s Self-Defence.” Please collect your pennies and take them to Women’s Network. They have penny holders and labels for collecting jars. Your pennies will help subsidize women taking the workshop, and assist us in providing women’s self-defence on thelsland. Our next practice will be in March-- call Catherine for time and place at 368-5040.
