So obvious is this fact that we do not believe any person of reputation who is at all conversant with the facts will contmdict it. Charlottetown is the principal port of this Provirlce, the principal center Qi it import trade, as well as the sent of its Government and the general head- quarters of its industrial and connnercial activity. It is obvious that if the winter stcamers could have come anti gone [loin Lhii port with almost the same case and security that the Navigation Con\puny‘s stcalners came nnil went- in November and December, that the service should have been continued by the winter boats down to date. _ Four years ago in a \-ery much colder winter than the present the Stanley canlc downiromSnmn1ersitle and broke into Charlottetown harbor, and on -ith March following the Minto opened np regular service between Picton and this port. \\'e are disposed to let the past two months drop out ofsight if an effort ie made to open the navigation at an early date in the future. it is clear that either of the winter steamcrs might now be visiting this port daily ll those in auth- ority were so disposed.
