Campbell will regret to hear of his death wpich occurred at Philliptior Jugh, Mniitina, on Ssturday.last the 26th August after a short illness. Mr. Campbell’s disease seemed to be so complicated that it half led the skill of the best medical men. Every thing possible was done to restore him ti heal h, but it seems that he was not to live. The Mr. Campbell referred to was widely and favorably known .in P. E. I. and wasa son of Mr. Donald Campbell. miller, now _living at Monta- gue. Some seven years previous ti his going away James D. was in the employ of Mr. Norman J. McDonald, miller, Montague. Out West ho was a popular salesman and was head cl-rk in a large dry goods house at Phillip- borough. He leaves a father four brothers and three sist~rs ti mourn their loss: One brother in British Columbia, three in too United States; l one sister Mrs. Robt J. Alter the first week or ten days they should be fed twice a day and the third week they may be fed by the use of the crammiug machine. During the last .ten days of the fatten- ing period a small portion of tallow should be placed in the feed- The quantity may be gradually increased until it reaches o:e pound of tallow a day for about 100 chickens, according to the size. Some cars shouid be exer- cised in feeding with the machine as it may clog the windpipe and, of course, choke the chicken. In such cases prompt action is necessary, but with ii. little care there is no danger. The Government are having tittaou coops made and some stalls on the Ex- hibition grounds have been selected as t-ie most appropriate-place if they can be secured for fattening. The grounds are near at hand to skim milk, etc. We can place ton turkeys in a. stall. Turkeys will realize twice as much it properly fed for the market. The chicken must be allowed to empty its crop before being killed. ' It is a good plfin to give the chicken a drink of water in which a ing the fattening season the flock is lik lv to he troubled with lice. For this use a little sulphur-a very small qu ntity _will permeate the _whole sys- tem. ' In killing do not bleed, the chicks i, bm kill by wringing neck. ‘The blood will settle in the intestines. In pluck- ing, pull toward the head. D0 not wash the chicken before folding in paper. The pin feathers need not be removed. Uniform size in each box is necessary. Consumers order by the box. Too best market is to be found in December for the Christmas trad-. Mr. Haszard and Mr. Mitchell will conduct the station in Charlottetown.
