law passed imposing heavy penalties
upon merchants selling tobacco and
cigars. to boys under 16 years of age.
What has become of that acc? I am
surprised at the large and increasing
number of boys applying for cigarcites. ~
or for two cents worth of tobacco. I
am sorry to say,too many retailers cater'
to this kind of trade, and should be in-
troduced to the penalty. It might' also
check the evil. it the amendments to
the city bill dealing with boy’s clubs, "
would also make it a punishable offends
for boys to be found 'smoking or using
tobacco on the public streets.

butter. Also, their butter shipment
per S. S. Gaspesia netted the patrons
19.76 cents per lb. Their total ship-
ments to Great Britain last Autum was
5_0-10 lbs, the largest we think of any
company on the Island.
