Letters To the Editor... Dear Editor: Re: The Backlash; Affirmative Discrimination at PB We are amused! In fact we couldn’t agree more with Hanus & Murphy’s suggestion that some male profes- sors should step down and give their jobs to women. Goddess knows their are a few old dinosaurs around here who punish usall with their uninspired ram- blings inclass. Aside from not contributing much in the way of new knowledge, these “‘tenures drones’’ also seem to squawk the loudest about affirmative action. And do tell us what the philosophy department knows about the ‘‘means’’ of affirmative action. It hardly strengthens your arguments to make some obscure reference such as ‘‘the philosophy department should know about this ‘‘(wink, wink). This tells us nothing although it does allude to some mysterious activity in the philosophy department. (What? theres movement in the philosophy department???) With Great Reverence to Academic Freedom, The Thought Police (UPEI Division/ Re-Vision) Dear Editor Do you ever imagine about the unknown (what the people her on Earth call the unknown). Think about it! Is Earth really the only planet with living things? Do you ever wonder if the things are similar to things on Earth? Is the universe infinite? How far does the universe go? Can the universe go on forever? What does forever mean? How long is forever? A subject close to the body is, how does the human brain work? When you think about it can people actually see into the past and future? Is that possible? _ These are only a few questions that can be asked and thought about. It can boggle the mind how little that humans do know about the area around and inus. As a university student do we think about such things? Probably(!) ina rare moment when we are in soli- tude, where there is peace and quite. | think as uni- Health Centre Hours Monday: Dr. Tweel 10:00 - 1:00 Tuesday: Dr.MacKenzie 1:30-4:00 Wednesday: Dr. Stewart 10:00 - 1:00 Thursday: Dr. Reid 9:30 - 12:30 The nurse is available from 8:30 - 4:30 Monday Friday. Butit will, © for if each generation is inquisitive about the un- known then the less the unknown there will be. Uni- ~ versity is not only about sciences, business, or arts, if is about developing the human mind and spirit. Thus pondering or imagining about the unknown will help — develop a person’s mind. It will help them to be opet to new ideas and things. This is and will continue to be important, since new ideas and actions are develop ing each month, each day, each hour.
