There are other needs however, urgent needs, the standardizafon of the whole Island railway, the ballasting of th road already standardized and probably the strengthening of some railway bridges. Until this is done, time on the P. E. Island railway will necessarily be slow. These are improvements that are, urgently needed to give our province ade- quate railway service. Provision should also be made this summer for a pullman car service between Sack ville and P. E. Island 1Joints. i I One of the great drawbacks to our tourist traf- fic has been the inadequate, not to say the comfort- less, service between the main line of railway and Prince Edward Island. It is hoped that this part of the service will this season be made Worthy of the great system of Canadian National Railways of which it is a not; inconsiderable part. With an upto date service on the connecting link we have no doubt the increased traflic would more than offset the extra expense. It is admitted that economy is very properly the present watchword of the government and that it is necessary to cut expenditures down to the last pos- sible dollar but true economy means adequate equip- ment before everything else as equipment is the great trade maker. Starving the equipment in order to cut down expenses is the worst form of wasteful extravagance and we trust this policy will not be ap- plied to the P. E.
