McISAAC-CALLAGIIAN WEDDING ' A very pretty wedding took place at St. Arm's Church, Tyrone, on Tuesday, July 1, when Mary Helen Irene, daughter oi Mr. and Mrs. , P. J. Callaghan, North Wiltshira became the bride oi! Leo P. Mclsaac’ charlottetown, son o! Mr. and Mrs. D. AuMcIsaac. Cherry Valley. The ceremony was perlormed by Rev. J. W. McCardle, cousin oi the bride. The bride entered the church on the arm ot her lather. she look- ed very lovely in a. floor length gown o! ivory satin with raised orange blossoms. She wore a linger- tip veil and carried a nosegay o! carnationsmnd- mixed flowers. Her bridesmaid was her sister, Miss Ethel Callaghan, who wore a tloor length dress o! pink nylon sheer with overskirt o! figured nylon marquisette. She wore a matching veil and carried a nosegay ot car- nations and yellow snapdragons. "The groom was ably supported by his cousin, Mr. OrwelliMorrisey. Mr. Linus ‘rrainor and Mr. Alex McIsaac, as ushers led the bridal party to the altar, which was pret- tily decorated for the occasion. Miss Mary McElroy played the traditional wedding march. During the mass and also during the sign- ing o! the register suitable hymns were beautifully rendered by Mrs. Amos Callaghan. Following the ceremony break- fast was served at the home oi the bride to about‘ Iiity guests. The toast to the bride was pLOPOSCd by Rev. J. W. McCardle and respond- ed to-by the groom. Remarks by His Honor Judge Duliy, uncle o! the bride, Rev. M. E. Francis, Rev. George McCormack and Mr. James McOardle were followed by music QUICKIES over-cautious when he passed ac consistently. His hand amply just- itied a Lakeoui double oi the one- spade bid. 0i Course, he would not have been permitted to play (our hearts - which he could have made with ease - but at least he would have wade an effort in the right direction However, there. was nothingwrong with West'i delenae against four spades, The heart king was opened and South won. A spade was lecl toward dummy; West ducked nnd the queen held. Now declare:- re-enter- ed his hand with a club in order to lead another trump toward the K-B. West went in with the ace this time and, re-ilirslng that the only hope to beat the contract was pro- ably to get a club ruii, first care- 1ully cashed the heart queen (so as to avoid any possible mataks on East's part) and than boldly undaz-led the diamond ace, East may have been surprised when his king held this trick, but he was not too surprised to return r. club. West, o! course, rulIed 10s the setting trick. Ag Mr. stalilein points out, alter the spade queen held, declare: could have insured his contract through,a veri. simple play. All he had to do wag lead a diamond from dummyi This would eiiect- ively out the comm icutkms be- tween the East and west hands, and would make it impossible for west to get his club mil. and a sing song. Then the happy couple lett tor a honeymoon trip through Cape Breton via the Cabot ‘frail. On their return they were tendered a reception at the home o! the groom's parents. The numerous and valuable gifts received testify to the popu- larity 0t the young couple. Beiore her marriage the bride was a member of the stat! o! Park- dale School’ Charlottetown and the groom is Extension Representative for the Provincial Department o! Agriculture.
