If all you have to offer is childish pornagra— phic cartoons, and phoney advice columns like "Dear Murna" with made up pro- blems, that are supposed to be humorous, why not give up the pretense of being a newspaper. Are there no students at UPEI with_real problems? Are students not effected by unemployment and inflation? Foreign ownership of our country's resourses, the arms race, wars, poverty, civil liberty, etc, etc. It would seem that there is a concious effort to ' keep this paper stupid and irrelevant.‘ With the exception of Stan Daltons column, "letters from exile,"which I must com— pliment you on. Your paper could be an alternative to the big business owned and controlled media. If anyone wants to read garbage let them go to their nearest magazine rack. They will find a vast selection there. Sincerely, Richard Dixon UPEI Introverts ? Dear Editor, Recently, I decided . to attend a Pig'n Whistle at UPEI and was told at the door that since I was V not a student at the Univer— sity, I could not participate I, then, pro- in this eVent. duced my Holland College I.D. card. This made no difference. I was not a‘ UPEI student: I couldn't get into the Pig. Early this fall, I drove a friend to Qalhousie wfiniversity.’ Since there was a dance that night,we decided to see if we .could get in to it. At 'the door, we Were met by a 6'13" student cop asking for student I.D.'s. I told him that I din't go to Dal.,.but that I was a stud- ent from Holland College. He said " that's okey. We will admit any student in the Maritimes in to our regular events. As far as I know most universities in the Maritimes do the same." Later this fall, I “had cause to visit St. F.X.U. They, too, accepted by H.C.I.D. In my opinion, this looks pretty bad for UPEI. Clean up your act, guys. I would hate to see you refered to as the in— troverts of Atlantic Canada.
