Peverett, Price, and Jameson play guitars and get.together on some fine, vocal harmonies. The harm- onies do—not strike me as beautiful, but maybe the proper word would be plea- sant . - For the most part the album is a driving style, with very few breaks in the is driving force. The title song "FoOd for the City", starts the album with a good driving force. Dave PeVerett, Red Price ‘Roger Earl, and Rick James- on, sometimes referred to as Foghat, have recently relea— sed Food for the City. For the most part it is a good album and Foghat could be a good group if they would re- place their drummer and bass player. The drummer is fast in places, but lacks any great coordination or sync— opation. The bass player, Jameson, lacks any knowle- dge of how to play bass. He knows where the notes are ,but he cannot put them THE BIG 700 1 radio CIMN * and do a harmony break, which sounds very impress— ive on the part of the bass player because I didn't ’think he had it in him: Later on, the drums, bass, as is the lead, During the second break, the guitar 'gets very bitchy, and the guitarist shows he can be very fast and tasteful. ~ fireamtwmwz - a. \\4 together into a decent run. g“, The vocalsAare very good Cad .FR/on :4 The drummer is very decent in this song, however, the the bass player proves to pbe the‘shits. "My Babe" is a good boo— gie, but with simple bass and drum lines. This song sounds strikingly like Copper Penny, vocal-wise. Again, the guitarist shows some gutsy lead. "Slow Ride" is a slow driving song, but partway through the Song, the guit— arist.and bass player stop and vocals do-a break. Much to my amazement, the bass was actually good and for a couple of minutes I actually liked his style. If youkenot a bass pla— yer and you like a driving force in your music, you'— ll like "Food for the City". If you are a bass player and you like to pick up tricks from other players’ styles, FORGET IT!!!
