E. 1., and business man here for many years, died today alter a short illness. He was 62. Head of the Phillips Sales and Auction Company which he form- ed some 10 years ago, he was elected head of the Halifax City and County Progressive Conserv- ative Party in 1947. He was associated with .W. F. Page and Co., Condon and Co.. and Gordon and Keith Ltd.. as well as with the Sales Company, which operates throughout the Mari- times. Among survivors are his fath- er, A. J. Phillips, Suinmcrside; two daughters. Mrs. T. L. Guy. Sydney. N. 5.; Betty. Halifax; two sons. William and John. both of Halifax. One brother, Scott. lives at Gravelburg, Sas-k., and five others. Walls are done with plain paper in a soft wood rose tone and pews have been varnished. Deep cream paper with conventional de- sign in brown gives the hall a bright ,attractiva appearance. Work was done by Mr. James "Broderick usisted by Mr. John Connolly. Responsibility for re- decoration of the church and also some simillar work at the parson- age has been assumed by the Lad- ies' Aid. with assistance being given by the Guild. On Sunday.
