QUEEN SQUARE SCHOOL, Iv one were disposed to be fearful about the fature of our country, he would be perfectly reassured after visiting our public schools. Lusty, intelligent young life, such as there abounds and is being trained up in the way it should go, must produce goodness and prosperity in the time to come. Aod we know cf no school to which the despoudent had better go than to Queen Square School. It is a boys’ school; and those who attend it are, many of them, the children of the poor and rough. Yet in 00 school (ir this City at least) better order prevail, in no school are the pupils more respectful to their teachers, and in no school is brighter intelligence displayed. The visitors at the examination held to-day, included His Honor Lieutenant Governor and Mrs. McDonald, the Rev. Father MelIntyre, John McSwain, Principal ot the Model School, Patrick Blake. M. P. P., Thomas Handrahan, John Ings, Douald Farquharson, James Bryne, Esquires, and others. The classes, especially the lower classes, wete well filled, and the examination, which included the elementary brancnes of our English education, was satisfactory in all. The Chairman of the City School Board (W. E. Dawson, Esq.,) spoke very highly of the School, and His Honor the Lieutenant Governor said that it had given him very great pleasure to visit the several rooms and hear the pupils examined. Some like like the clay pipe best, others prefer the briar root, others again the meerschaum, some must have the pipe well seasoned before they can enjoy it, others agaju must have a new pipe and throw it away when it gets a little old. But though this diversiity of taste among them is curious it is not at all curicus that there is substantial unanimity among them that the ‘‘Myrtle Navy” brand of Messrs.
