MLIRVING-In rising to second
the address in reply to His Honor
the Lieutenant Governor's speech
said the Hon. Member for Bldeford
had expressed himself so fully that
little remains to be said. However,
he could not refrain from expressing
the general sorrow felt for the early
and unexpected death of the__late
lamented Premier. As Premier of
tllis Province there were many op-
portunities for knowing him. To
know him was to esteem him. He
was ever considerate and gentlemanly
willing to devote his time to the
best interests of the country. His
loss is keenly felt throughout this
Province. The legislation which he
enacted will' be an enduring monu-
ment to his memory-it has beerl
commended far beyond the bounds of
this Province. His family, too have
sincere and universal sympathy in
their irreparable loss.

Succession Duties On Late
Senator Fulford's Estate
Amount To $30,000

TORONTO, Feb. 25-Although thc
estate of the late Senator Fulford, a-
mounted to about $275,000, the On-
tario Treasury will only benefit. to
the extent of about $15,000.
This is owing to the fact that vi
considerable portion of the Senator’s
estate is located in England. The
state duty on that portion will go
to the British Treasury, and will a.-
mount to between $15,000 and $16,000
As a matter of fact., this amount
is the succession duty payable on one
of Senator Fu1ford's proprietary com-
panies, which was organized in Great
Britain and capitalized at $480,000.
The amount of the duty which will
the largest that has been paid to
the old country in this manner.
