(TC). Seal on the ice between Rocky Point and Victoria Park, December 18 (LB) Seal on an ice flow off East Point, February 17 (JDM, RC) Sightings of Blue Jays, Black-capped Chickadees, and Evening Grosbeaks were common both at feeders and in the woods. Some individuals noted a decrease in bird sightings this year at feeders but others are reporting average to increased sightings. Common Goldeneyes, Black Ducks, and Common Merganser are common in open water in many estauries. Goldeneye courtship displays (head arched backwards and ducks calling) were reported in late January and were common in early to mid-February (SM, JDM). Scott Makepeace noted woodpecker drumming at York Point Road on February 8. Red Fox sightings are up dramatically, possibly in response to the anti-fur lobby.
