Messrs. J. A. Macdonald & Co. are the principal shippers.-&. ...*NEw 8CHO0LHOUSE.- Dur- ing the' past summer a. splendid new schoolhouse was built at Mitchell River to replace the old one, which had certainly outlived its usefulness. The building was erected on a new site purchased from Mr. Humphrey Hayter, as the old school lot was con- sidered to be unsuitable the soil being -very low and swampy in its vicinity. The contractors, Messrs. McPhee and Campbell, did their work well and Mitchell River now has a school building second to none in the coun- try districts of King’s County. That the ratepayers are broad-minded and determined to keep abreast of the times is shown by the fact that at the last annual meeting they voted an in- creased supplement foi- the teacher although under such heavy expense for building purposes. Their example in this respect might well be copied by other school districts. Miss Bes- sie Gordon, a native of the district, is the capable teacher.
