The 25th opening session to- day will be no exception. Dur- ing the Second World War years and the post-war period. openings tended to be rather drab. But since Queen Eliza- heth opened parliament in 1957 women have made the openings an occasion to wear colorful gowns and furs. V ~ Mme. Georges Vanier, wife of the governor-general, plans to wear a period-style gown of tur- quoise slipper satin and silver accessories. Mrs. John Dlefenbalrer, wife of . prime minister. has chosen a sapphire blue velvet gown with a fitt bodice and a slightly flared skirt which she will wear with white fox furs. Mrs. Lester 3. Pearson. wife of IIII opposition leader, has chosen a gold and'black bro- cade gown on slim lines with a side drape and gold accessories.
