In ullsdsladd pro- vince where poverty nnd want arc at a minimum, andwhcre such ad- verse conditions as stock market fluc- tuations touch but lightly, the stress ariiii strain of life is obviously not the important factor in determining men- tal attacks, that it ls in less fortun- ately situated districts. The tragedy oflfaulty inheritance is not only seen lrflhosg who are defective from birth, blitjlso in those who have inherited rlgbrous capital sufficient to carry them through a normal existence, nouns’ ‘KIDNEY; l [hospital satisfactory progress was but who, because of an insufficient reserve force, break in the face oi adversity. With this probl‘better understood by our people, the but- iln the electrical wiring- of our main look from the standpoint of mental hygiene will be assuredly brighter. MacLennan, Miss Marie Pillman. A definite and m... important ad- vance was made in -our dtraining school this year. Hitherto our nurses were handicapped by their-‘lack of general hospital training, but, through the courtesy of the Charlgttetown nnd Prince Edward Island Hospitals, they may now obtain s year's slugi- cal training in one or the other of the above mentioned general hospit- als. This brings the course of train- ing up to the required three years, and renders the nurses eligible for the R. N. examinations. Much credit I mention should be made of the fact made. Necessary repairs were com- pleted in the engineer's department,’ and much needed repairs were made; building. A very satisfactory electric oven for baking the Institutions bread é... installed in place o! the brick ovens which had become obso- lete and practically useless. New car- penter work includes an addition to the farmer's cottage, and the repair work was extensive, including repairs to both the woodwork and the plas- ter of the main building. Special that some valuable lumber in the Rena MacLean Hospital‘ was placed at our disposal by the Provincial Government, and much needed rc- pairs were thus made to our bulld- lngs at s very slight cost. With the decrease in our popula- tion rendering further building un- necessary, our efforts should be di- rected towards improving our pres- ent buildings and maintaining them as an Institution oi which the pro- vince may wcll be proud. is due ille staffs of the hospitals mentioned, wilo, at some inconven- ience to themselves, entered into this arrangement as a public service to the province in general. Thehfiect of this change should be far reaching. It will encourage intelligent nurses who previously left the province to complete their training to stay st home and their knowledge of mental disease and its prevention should re- act most favourably on the mental health of the province. "After this I looked and beheld a door opened in‘ Heaven.“ The last meeting between the deceased and Rev. F. Williamson and Mr. Robert McNutl, was most impressive. He grasped their hands and said: ‘Pl will meet you in Heaven." The Rev. gentleman ptlid a high tribute t0 the deceased, exemplifying what a model life he had led, and how h: had ever placed the performance of duty to his family, his church and his country before any personal con- slderatlon that might present itself. The psll bearers were John Riley, Frank McNutt, James Cousins, El- mer Psynter, Ansel Bernard and W. C. Donald. Mr. Stavert referred to the fine qualities found in the character of Ml‘. Jardine and spoke of the splendid work that he had donc for the church especially during the past live years. "He was one of that type of men that our church at this time can ill afford to lose." Mr. Stuvert then moved that a resolution be passed extending the sympathy of the Presbytery to Mrs. Jardine and the family. The motion was seconded by Rev. T.
