The school-. Oyergreelh etc. Nearly thirty visitors were present. An address of welcome by the pupils opened the exercises, after which the school was thoroughly examined by the teacher, Miss Lily Rose. That the teacher was pains- taking and the scholars diligent and mililtions, was evidenced by the many compliinéntnry remarks' made ,byi those present. After the examination, supper was served by somefof the lad- ies and candy liberally supplied to 'all present by the teacher. The singing of the National Anthem brought this very pleasant and profitable meeting to a close. , __*SAVAGE HARBOR SCHOOL. -- The semi annual examination ot' Sav- age Harbor School which took place in the,schoolroom on the evening of December 21, was one ot' the most suc- cessful ever held_ The examination was very largely attended, therebelng twenty-one pupils and over forty‘~vls- ltors present. The schoolroom was tastefully decorated and presented u renl Christmas atmosphere. in the :entre stood a gorgeous Christmas tree, lighted with inunierable candles and electric sparklers. and laden with a present for every child in the school, also a number of valuable presents for the teacher froni each one of lier pu- pils. The examlnatlon was opened with a gramophone selection, “lt’s a Long, Long Way to Tipperary" by Mr. Milton Collin, followed by a speech by Master Cyril Morrison of which =peclal mention should be made. The pupils were then examined by Miss Mary MacAulay. teacher, Ten Mile I-louse, sister of the teacher and Mr. Danniel McDougall,teacherPoint De douche. The clever manner' in which they answered the various questions irlven them, showed that the teacher, Miss Annie MacAulay, had been put- ting forth great efforts to obtain good ~esults. AT ST. PETER'S -In the splendid rink at St. Peter's Bay, a. carnival was held on January 15, which as regards attendance, ex- cellent and appropriate costumes, etc., proved a tremendous success. The costumes were well gotten up and par- ticularly attractive and the skaters in their representations provided an abundance of amusement for the large crowd of spectators present.. The rink thisyear is being as well, if not better, conducted than ever, and the management are receiving large and well deserved patronage for their ener- gy and enterprise.
