The Examiner has had nothing tosay,so far as we have observed. The Patriot on Wednesday last, observed that “the action of the City Council in regard to the electric light contract is causing considerable discussion among our citizens." It witheld further remarks Morning Edition, daily (except Snndayil) , - ‘pending the publication of a letter from Coun. Whear,” but the "remarks" are still withheld. Of course, there is an election near at hand. Are the party papers para~ lyzed by the fearof offending some one and losing a vote for the dear party? This GUARDIAN is either right ofwrong in denouncing this transaction. We have given our opinion of it, and leading citizens have spoken through our columns in condemnation of the scandal. Public money has been sacrificed and the tende system reduced to a farce. What. is the sense of calling for tenders if all except the highest are rejected? But it seems our evening comtemporaries have no opinions whatever to express in regard to this important public matter which has been and is the talk of the town.
