IN MEMORIAM CHARLES SCOTT ELLIS The citizens of O'Leary and vicinity were shocked to learn of the passing of one of its most highly esteemed residents on" March 25th. in the death of Mr. Charles Scott Ellis, in his Gist. year. lath. 1891, he was the son of the late Haber Ellis and Mary Eng- land Bills. He farmed the old Ellis homestead. until three years ago when he moved to Knutsford where he continued to farm successfully until recent- ly. when he was obliged to retire active duty owing to ill health He moved to the village of O'- Leary where he purchased a mod- ern cottage which he was only spared to enjoy for a few months. The late Charles Ellis was a man of many sterling qualities. His creed was to live and let live and few lfany ever asked afavor and were refused. His word was his bond. and he could truly be called one of nature's noblemen. To meet him was to fonii a respect never to be lost. as was shown by the host of friends who turned out in a blinding snow- storm over roads that were al- most impusable. to attend his funeral. It is quite correct to say that every one attending was there from ahecr respect for the deceased and sympathy for those remaining to mourn one who can- not be replaced. . The many floral tributes were another token of the esteem in which he was held. He leaves to mourn, besides a host oi iricnds. his aged mother. his wife. ncc Harriette Webb. and a daughter.
