MR. LAWSON’S TRIP.-The -Moncton Times:-Rev. G. A. Lawson's condition is so much, improved that he was able to start on Friday on a trip, which it is hoped will result in his complete restoration to his usual state oi health. He went as far as St John, accompanied by Mrs. Lawson' and intends later going on to Boston and possibly will visit other points. His Charlottetown friends wish his quick restoration to health. FUNERAL NOTICE.-The funeral of the Hon. David Laird will take place on Thursday afternoon at 2.15 o'cIock from the residence oi,Premier Mathieson, son-in-law, to Sherwood Cemetery, where the remains of Mrs. Laird are interred. The hour at which the train leaves, has not been ilxed. _ DOMESTIC SCIENCE.-The class in Domestic Science in connection with the Short Course was given a practical lesson on bread making on Friday afternoon. Each student 'maka ing a small loaf of bread. The dif- ferent stages in bread making were discussed and explained telling what the yeast plant was, how lt grows, what it feeds on, what it does when it is growing, why we put it into bread, why we use wheat flour, and the temperature best for the growth oi the plant, Bread recipes and dif- ferent methods of breud making were taken up, demonstrating the making of the ferment, the sponge, the sponge and dough and the oil hand dough methods. Flour mixtures were taken up on Saturday when the mak- ing of pastry was the main subject. Other combinations such as batters and baking powder mixtures were al- so discussed. On Monday afternoon the class had a lesson in Amateur .Confectionery when each student was given n. chance to make boiled fond- ant and do practice work -ln the moulding and dipping of bon bone.
