May is. 1957. at the advanced age of eighty-four. Mr. Burns who was the son of George Burns and his wife Elisa- heth Carruthers Burns, was born in Lower Freetown, in the year lli7.'I. and his whole life was spent in that district where he was high- ly esteemed by all who were priv- l.egcd to know him. Of a quiet nature. his sense of ' humor and kindness made his home a place where stranger. neighbor, relative and friend al- ways received a cordial welcome. His children. grandchildren and little great grandchildren willl al- ways cherish his love for them and i will remember his fine Christian l example. integrity and jovial na- ture.
