The cele- _brants were Rev. Father 0350111- DESIGNED F 0R ‘BETTER 00M Built From Plans Pre- pared By Mr. H. B. Weeks, Charlotte- town Dealer. Mr. H. B. Weeks, Charlottetown cos-l dealer, has just had built a. coal conveyor from a design which he worked out. The machine, tend- ed by two men and powered by an electric motor will screen and load sixty tons of coal an hour accord- ing to the designer. Intended as n labor saver the conveyor l; expected to deliver a better grade screened coal than w. 1 possible by hand labor. Metal scoops on an endless chain run- ning in a metal run-wa consti- tute the moving parts of the mach- ine. Those operatlng the device simply have to shovel coal into elevator at the ground. The coal is picked up, elevated, over a screen and into a cart. truck, or any other receptacle. and is ready for delivery. Mr. Weeks declared to a Guard- ian representative that the prin- cipal function of themachine will be to make possible the delivery of r. better quality of coal. The conveyor was bullt by the firm of Hall and stavertl, machin- ists on Lower Queen Street, Chnr- lottetown. They have bullt n. num- ber of somewhat similar machines for use as potato loaders. At pre- sent they have in mind the con- structlon of a conveyor for load- lng and screening gravel. a__________. Personals Mr. Peter Sinclair, M.P., is still confined to his bed under doctor's care. Father 0'- Sulllvan referred to the solemn thoughts that oome to the mind at this time of the year. He pointed out the shortness of time and the fact that all are moving toward . eternity and that one year will be the last in e. person's life. Quoting from the words of the met he said "Our hearts like muf- fled drums, beating funeral march- es to the grave..." As a consequenc it is nloeaury to look at life seriously and to spend it for God. "We should live m the presence of Godalwaye and we should remember the thought that our status in eternity is fixed," the speaker said. "We will either be spiritual kings or spiritual beg- gars. We will never be better or worse than we are at the moment of death. Therefore we should l follow the teaching of our Divine Saviour, ‘work while it is still day for the night cometh in which no man shall work’. We should there- lore make good resolutions to live 1n a good Christian manner, re- member-lug that we have the dig- hlty of Sons of God. "We should make good resolut- ions, not many but some that we will endeavor to keep. They should have to do with being more unsel- flsh, more charitable, more pray- erful, and especially to avoid the occasion of sin.” Exposition of the Blessed Sacra- mcnt. all day closed with benedic- tlon. To Present Fine Irish Drama By special Longmana and arrangement ivzth Greens of New York City the Benevolent Irish Society of Charlottetown have been auc- ccaaful 1n securing the latest Irish play released to amateurs, "Brub- get O'Rourke." The settings of this famous Irish comedy drama orb laid in scenes produced from the Ab“? Theatre in Dublin and re- leased to the professional world some twelve months ago. The lumbering twelve in all appeal continuously throughout the en;- tire performance with real Irish wit and sense of humor unparal- leled in other Irish plays. The pro- duction has a sound moral and holds the audience in suspense un- til tho final curtain. The specialties, flve in all, are selected from the Island's leading talent. The contract for the prO- duction has been awarded to Doc- tor T. E. E. Robins, who made pro- bably one of the greatest hits in amateur production some four years ago in "All The Comforts of An Irish Home." March 16 and 17 are the big nights. The committees have been ap- pointed and the program commit- tee will be calling on the merch- antl, business houses and patrons starting January the 4th. As‘iu previous years, the proceeds of the play are strictly for charitable dia- trlbutions. ' Further particulars will be give" in the press. _..i.______ lJn [land's (or Dandruff.
