The health report submitted by Mrs. Julian Herring to the an- nual meeting of the Prince Ed- ward Island Federation of Agri- culture dtscloses that there are at present 68 doctors in the Pro- vince. 0f those, 2l-ten of whom practice in Sunlmerside-are in Prince County; (i9 are in Queen's County; and eight in King's. Of the 39 doctors in Queen's, 30 of t-hem reside in Charlottetown. The Province, Mrs. Herring's report reveals, has nine hospitals and one maternity home. Oi’ the hospitals, six are general, one is mental, one is a . sanatorium. and one an infirmary. The loca- tion of the general hospitals and their bed capacity are as follows- two in Charlottetown with a com- bined bed capacity of 396. one in Summerside with 60 beds: one at Alberton with 40; one at Montague with 30; and one at Sour-ls with 32. The report also showed that of the 145 registered nurses in the Province, as of October, 1947, 7i. were on hospital registels in Charlottetown and Sunrmerslldle; 63 were institutional; nine were in the public health service; and two liver-e with the Red Cross.
