Hutcheson l lF"'-*"_ _A _ EHHISTYS lllllllll Bl llllll CHILD ZANESVILLE, O., June 9-How- ard Chandler Christy, artist-creator of beautiful girls and athletes, is re- enjoying his honeymoon today with Mrs. Christy, re-united by their love for their little daughter, Natalie. They are in their little bungalow eleven miles from here. This means that Christy's words two years ago, “I am willing to take her in niy arms and let bygones be bygones,’_' have come true. At the time he said this Mrs. Christy wus fighting for the. possession of her child in the courts, and apparently thought it was too lute to think of any reconciliation. Since the courts gave Natalie i_nto~ her futher's hands Mrs. _Christy has been in this city doing newspaper lwork. From time to time she was confronted with reports that a reconciliation with her husband was at band, but to all these she smiled sadly and shook her head. The separation of the couple, just about two years ago, had sensation- al results. Christy and his wife had apparently parted forever. That was settled, it seemed. The only hitch in an otherwise amicable arrangement was as to who should have the child. Mrs. Christy brought habeas corpus proceedings in November, 1009, to force her husba`nd to produce Natalie in court. Some time elapsed from the filing of the application and the decision of the court, and during that time Christy' did his utmost to hide the whereabouts of the child from the knowledge of her mother. Finally he was served and brought to court with his daughter. The henr- ing brought out and laid bare a se- ries of incidents and happenings that served to widen the barrier already set up between the (lliristys. 'l‘he artist was vehement in saying that his wife was not ii fit person to take care of thc child, \vliile she countered with charges of drunken ness and hints of over-friendliiiess with girl models that were supposed to have stretched over many years. Great stress was laid by Christy on it letter written to him by his wife after their separation in which she spoke of the "little durk places in my life." Judge Smith, of the probate court, awarded the child to her father, but gave the mother perniissioii to visit her several tiiucs at ycur. Then followed it report. that Mrs. Christy would sue for divorce. That died away, however. What has been going on in the infiaiitiiiie can only be judged by re- sults. It would seein that all the bitterness has been wiped out by time, and that the separation has lrzen too long for both of them. Those viho know the Christys be- lieve that Natalie is the real puller at the henrtstrings of them both, and that again the hands of ii child have savi-,d two more persons from lives of sadness and regret. ` WILL API‘lv'vi\s ._ amid rap _ ‘ -5.
