T. ing, a helpful discussion was car- ried on for some time regarding conditions throughout the province. It was agreed that the Grand Division should draw up three res- olutions dealing with certain phases of the work on the Island and pass these resolutions on to the Tem- perance Federation at its meeting on the marrow. and ask them to have these said resolutions dealt with by the bodies or organizations to which they are to be presented. One of these resolutions had to do with the question as to whe- ther or not it should be made an offence against the prohibition law for any party to be found fre- quenting any place suspected oi having intoxicating liquors for sale. The second one was dealing with the script system asking the pro- vincial government to adopt some plan-whereby the large amount of intoxicating liquors now being sold through the script system can be curtailed. The third resolution had to do with suggesting to the Ministerial Association oi’ Prince Edward 1s- land that they work out a plan whereby they could have all d our‘ clergy throughout the province visit all of our day schools at least once pupils on the great questions of moral and social reform in general, and on the question of the use oi.’ intoxicating liquors in particular. ‘These resolutions were in due course passed on to the Temper- ance Fc-derritlon to be dealt with at their annual meeting on Tues- day, Dec. 1st. After a recess of twenty minutes during which time the several committees attended to the work entrusted to their care, the chair- men of these several committees presented their respective reports to the meeting. Rev. A. F. A study 0f these rcporls reveal.» tlic increasing need of the kind oi work the Order of the Sons o.‘ Zfcnzpcraiice is set to do. We recommend that the three officers mentioned above be heart- ily thankcd for their untiring ef- forts in the cause of temperance, and for their splendid reports. We express satisfaction at the increase in the number of divis- ions-one new one having been or- ganlzed during the past year-but we regret that notwithstanding this the total membership is slightly less than last year. However this itself may reveal a healthier mem- lzership. We urge that all of our subor- dinate divisions attempt to make their meetings both as interesting and as profitable as possible from the standpoint oi’ temperance in- struction and inspiration. In this regard we highly recommend Lriter- division visitation as l. means of maintaining interest. We believe that tlie interests of the Order would be advanced by a reference of the‘ following matters to the Temperance Federation, namely: (l) the question as to whether or not it oulcl be consid- ered an offence against. the prohi- bition laiv for any party to be found frequenting any place sus- pected of having intoxicating liq- uors fcr sole. (2) The dealing with the script System. asking the Provincial Gov- ernment to adopt some plan whereby tlie largo amount of iri- taixicaliiag liquor through the script system can be curtailed. <3) The matter of suggesting to the Ministerial Association of Prince Fdivard Island that they work out a plan whereby they could have all o! our clergy throughout the province visit all of our day schools and talk to the pupils on the moral rid social reform in gener. a1, and on the question of the use of intoxicating liquor in particular. And we hereby ask our Educa- tional Secretary, Rev. C.
