The Preferential Tariff.

out the country that do not believe that
the now existing Government at Ottawa
have given a preferential reduction in
duties of 33§ per cent to allldry goods im-
ported from Great Britain since July lst,
1900. People so inclined or pretending to
disbelieve it, persuade others by argument
that it is not stated in Hansard and _that
certain merchanisadvertise the reduction
only until stock-taking. They persuade
no unusual customs reduction on English
dry goods at all. Now, Sir, it is very_
prominently inserted in some Canadian.
You would greatly enlighten the com-
munity by making a statement asto the
truth of this' preference being given,
paper to the edification of many. 1
