During the holidays the school was re-decorated and it now presents a very pleasing appearance. The walls were painted cream with brown wainscoting; the ceiling ivory with strapping brown. Thir- ty new desks were purchased for the school. The chief Superinten- dent of Education, Dr. Lloyd Shaw, visited the school on Sept 16, and was very much pleased with the general appearance and also the lighting. The death occurred in Char- lottetown on 'Sept. 11th of Mrs. Elias Wright of Middleton, P. E. Island, Mrs. Wright was former- ly Guelia Taylor of Lower Free- town. he funeral was held on Wednesday from the home of Mr. Clifford. Wright. Interment in Lower Bedequc Cemetery. What might easily have been a more serious accident occurred early Friday morning when a car left the road and swerved into the ditch on the Freetown highway. The car was badly wrecked but the three occupanis only received minor injuries. The car, a new one, was later towed to a garage for repairs. Mire. Fenton Simmons enter- tained the ladiu of the South Freetown Red Cross at her home on Friday evening, Sept. 15th. There was a large attendance of members. Several visitors were also present and a very enjoyable evening was spent. Work for the Red Cross is continuing to be done by this group also needful articles for other worthy objects. Lunch was served by the hostess assisted by committee. ' Lower Freetown residents are glad to know that work has started on a new school building. On Saturday a bulldozer was in operation on the land lately ac- quired from Mr. Frank Cairns. This land is situated almost dir- ecily opposite iihe present school and will provide larger play- grounds for the children. . The school will be very up to date and its appearance will add greatly to the community as well as being of such import to the pupils. Theywere the recipients of some nice presents and a considerable amount of money. A dainy lunch was served. The September meeting of the Women's Auxiliary of the St. Peter's Anglican Church was held at tho home of Mrs. Arthur smith on Saturday aftemoon. Sept. 16th with seven members present. Mrs. Reg- inald Palmer, president, was in charge of the meeting. Meeting opened by singing. "Rescue the Per- ishlng" followed by scripture and Prayer, Mrs. Arthur Smith had an interesting reading. Minutes of last meeting were read and approved and roll call answered with a verse of scripture. A social evening was discussed but was to be decided on at a later date. Meeting closed by repeating the Lord's Prayer. Mrs. Smith then set the table in her spacious dining room and everyone sat down to a com boil which was enjoyed by all.
