Boak. of Halifax, is her registered owner. - a son of Mr. John A. McLeod of Mount Buchanan. 'Young McLeod was one of many Canadians who took part in the late war in Cuba. He enlisted as a volunteer in the 71st Regiment of New York Volunteers and went with the first expediiion to Santiago where the 71st was constantly engaged in the thick of the fighting down to the time of the surrender. Among oiher . duties this regiment was sent to the assistance of the Rough, Riders at the time they were ambushed at the bevinninv of the invasion. From 1st July till the 10th ot August he was with his regiment at Santiago.
