UPEI Residence Students Need Help! As you know the University Residences will be converted to become the athletes village for the 1991 Canada Winter Games. The games will run for two weeks; February 17 - March 2, 1991. However, our residences will be used by the Games Society for a one month period beginning February 9 and ending on March 10, 1991. Our Residence students from all three buildings including Marian Hall, Bernardine Hall and Blanchard. Hall will be vacating their spaces on February 8 and will not return until March 10, 1991. Although most students will return home, we are now looking for places for 24 students, who for various reasons, desperately need lodging during the period the Residences will be closed to them. Any student, faculty member or staff member who would be willing to billet a needy residence student for the one month period please contact Mike Read, Residence Manager, in Student Services at 566-0634 as soon as possible. Calgarians came through with flying colours for the 1988 Olympics, housing nearly 300 students for the same period of time. I believe Prince Edward Islanders can do the same for 24 students.
