Many conutables were seriously injured
in trying to clear the streets which they
did not succeed in doing until a heavy
,downpour of rain and sleet came to their
asfistance. -
It is rumored that one civilian has died
;_ of injuries received. Several arrests have
|` been made. At a meeting outside the "
_town hall resolutions of confidence were
carried. Thisrneeting sent a telegram to
Mr. Chamberlain.
“Lloyd-George, the traitor, was hot
allowed to say a word. The citizens have
passed a resolution expressing conddence
in the government and their admiration
of your unique and fearless service for
king and country."
Estimates of the numbers ot the demon~
trators vary from 10,01) to 50,ill0 pe rsons.
