OctoserR 12, 2005 THE CADRE @ 9 ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT ECMA Music and Industry Awards Deadline October 17 (Charlottetown, PE)— The deadline for nominations for the East Coast Music Awards (ECMA) and Industry Awards is October 17, 2005. All Atlantic Canadian artists who are members in good standing of the East Coast Music Association and who released recordings between f@Vune 1, 2004 and October 15, 2005 are eligible for the 2006 East Coast Music Awards. Nominated musicians and industry professionals must be considered Atlantic Canadian, either born in Atlantic Canada or have lived in the region for the full eligibility period. At least 50 per cent of the members of any group must be Atlantic Canadian. The Entertainer of the Year category is open to all Atlantic Canadian artists, regardless of eligible releases. The winner is decided upon by a national public vote.in addition to the members’ vote. The ECMA Industry Awards recognize the achievements and contributions of our industry professionals in 16 categories. Industry professionals and companies are encouraged to send in submissions to be recognized by the ECMA for outstanding contributions to the development of the East Coast Music Industry over the eligibility period. Changes made to the industry awards for 2006 include dividing the Radio Station of the Year into two categories, recognizing the differences between small and major market stations. “The ECMA encourages submissions for any company or individual who deserves recognition in one of our categories,” said Steve Horne, executive director of the East Coast Music Association. “We hope to again recognize those individuals from Edmundston to St. John’s who contributed to our industry during the last year.” Submissions are sent to juries representing all regions of Atlantic Canada. These individuals have a demonstrated expertise and knowledge of the overall industry or individual categories.
