Spirit of The West Interview On Thursday, October 25th, Linda MacCrae, accordion player, bass player and vocalist for Spirit of the West was interviewed by the station management, just a half-hour before Spirit of the West played at the Halloween pub at the Barn. CIMN: What type of band is Spirit of the West, and what are your influences? SOTW: It’s sort of a blend of folk and rock with some Celtic influences. Everybody (in the band) has quite a diverse field of stuff that they listen to. CIMN: You have in the past and continue to play at a lot of festivals as well as doing a lot of touring. We get a lot of people saying, why don’t you write about this, but it just loses its power when you take a headline out of the newspaper everyday. CIMN: When they write, do they start with music or lyrics? SOTW: It varies.. CIMN: What are YOUR favourite SOTW songs? SOTW: Oh gosh, well, Dirty Pool is one that I really like. I have a singing part in it that I really The UPEI X-Press November 8, 1990 Page 20
