Romain Catholic Orphanage, near St.
Di‘.nstan’s College took place yester-‘
day forenoon. After the blessing of
the house by Rev. Dr. Morrison as-

'Plus was foll-owed by the impressive
cercmoiiiy of erecting the Station to
the Cross, and the services were
brought to a close by an airldress
from Rev. Dr. Morrison, who referred
to _the charitable object of the insti-
tution, the assistance received from
the public, and the kind assistance'
rendered by the Sisters of Oharity
towards the project. Among the
clergynien present in addition to the
‘above ment-ioned were: Revs. Father
Gillis, Dr. Chaisson. Dr. Mcliellan,
Father Gaudet, Dr. Gregory McDon-
al-d, Father Campbell, Dr. Smith,
Dr. Gillis, J. J. McDonald, Father
McLean, Dr. Maloney, one of the
fathers who is conducting a mission

accommodation for about twenty

Islander, a son of the late Duncan
McArthur of Enmore, Lot 10:-Rob-
nrt McArthur of 11 A Irving St.,
who was killed at Portsmouth, N.H,,
bvbeing struck by an overhead
hridgc while riding on a freight train
Thursday evening, was buried yes-
terday afternoon at Forest-dale ceme-
tery and was accorded full military
honors by the Col. M. B. Lakeman
camp of Spanish War Veterans, the
deceased having served in the Philli-‘
pines, thc Boxer Uprising and ati
Guam. The funeral was at the home
of his brother, Wm. H. McArtl1iir,
and a. delegation of 40 men from the
Spanish War veterans, under Com. (1
K. Daniels escorted the remains to
the cemetery. The deceased was in
the U. S. army uniform and there
was an American flag upon the cask-~
ct. and the hearsc. The services were
helil at the grave and were conduct-
ed by Com. Daniels and Adj. Ralph
M. Murphy, who acted as captain.
Past Com F. G. Thompson, who ser-
ved in the Phillipines. delivered a
brief eulogy. There were many lioral
tributes. A firing sipuad from the
Malden Rifles who were ln line with
the Spanish War veterans fired the
vollcys and taps were also sounded. ,

schools during the past mouth was
1032-boys 621, -girls 411. The
daily average attendance was 935.4,
the percentage 92. There were 79
cases of tardincss, eight cases of
triiancy and ten of corporal punish-
ment. The teachers made 76 visits to
parents an-d sent 27 notices. There
.were 24 requests to leave school be-
fore thc hour of closing an-d 58 fell
below the average for grading-Five
teachers reported no caseof taitdi-
ncss, and six teachers had only one
case. The highest percentage made
was 99.2 while twenty-two teachers
had a perceiitagc of 90 an-d over.
A meeting of the P. E. I. Poultry
Association was held last evening in
the Prince of Wales College. There
was a large and enthusiastic attend-
ance of poultry men. After the recent
victories at St. John and Halifax
and the Provincial exhibition here the
inenibers decided that they would
slmiv as an association at .Amherst
at the Ccomlng Winter Fair. The -miat-
ter of-.obtaining a suitable building
for holding their annual show in
January was discussed and R. V.
Longworth and John Wonnacott, Jr.
were appointed a committee to secure

next meeting. -
