The inclement weather militated against th atiendance, ard asthe compauvy did not arrive in the city until about half-pact seven it was almost nine o’clock before everything was ready and the curtain wentup. Besides, the trip from Point Du Cnene to Summerside was a very rough ove,and ailthe members of the company suffered more or lees—gener~ ally more—from sea sickness, I[t was under circumstauces euch these that the Robineon c pany made their first appears ance before a Coarlotietown audience, aod, all thiugs considered, they made a capital impressien. For to- night’s en- lertainmeut they will present Said Pasha, sod aftera good restand with more time to attend todetails a rendering as near'y faultless as possible may be expected. The performance of last evening devel~ oped the fact that the company is made up of good singers and clever actors and actressee, ane thev will, no doubt, be well patronized during the remainder of their season. The part of Fra Diavolo was well taken by Mr Frank D Nelson; and Mr Charles N Holmes, as Lorenzo, eleo sung and acted bis part cleverly. Minnie Jarbeau, the prima donna of the company, gave a capital rendering of the part of Zerlina. The other characters were in competent hands, Mesers Young and Oakley furnish- ing much amusement as the “brave” fol - lowers of the bandit chief. An exceedingly pleasing feature of the performance was the singing of the sextette at the close of the second act, and the andience was so delight- ed that a curtain call was insisted upon, The prayer songin the same act was another feature that was most pleasing and effective = ee Eee a 56 DK SATIRE 7 ASA A UI US “WN FOR Marine Insurance APPLY TO Hulis, Corgoes & Freights Insured al low Hates SM Se SIO Ca A HE Se ee ee a if Your Doctor Should prescribe Emulsion for you— We Would suggest— Our 3 Perfected Emulsion— guaranteed 50 per cent best oil With hypophosphites - 3 and Guiaicol— .Permanent, Palatable, 4qs% Azis Sa Pleasant Price 50¢ large bottle.
