A coroner's jury at Souris last night decided that Allan James Mnccormack. 41, came to his death on July 3 on the st. Char- les highway by "losing control of his car and being thrown there- from while driving at an excessive rate of speed.” Coroner Dr. M. N. Beck presid- ed. Mr. S. S. Hessian. Q.C.. of Montague represented the crown. The first witness was Louis Burke. 16, of St. Charles. He is A son of John J. Burke and lives at home. On the night of July 3 he tch. badly smashed up. The witness said he did not ser- ihc car turn ovcr. The time was labout 3.30. He was about 300 yards away when the accident happened. He ran to AlbertGallant's near- by and got him to take the injur- ed to hospital. They found Ar- ihur Gallant ta brother of Al- bertlsl near the fence beside the load. He remembered they had trouble starting it and went out the lane very slowly in the St. Charles highway. Allan Maccormack was lying in the ditch covered with 9. blanket. The man was dead. It would be between 4 and .'i o'clock altihougli he did not look at his watch. He knew Mac- Cormack personally. Maccormackts neck was broken. which caused his death. Constable L. MacDonald, R.C.- M. P. Souris said that on Jilly 3 at 4.10 A.M. he received ii call to E0 to an accident, at St. Charles. Ac- companied by Cpl, Lionel Strong and Dr. Kassner they drove to the scene. arriving about 445. The car was in the ditch on its side. They found the body of Nliiccormiick in ihe ditch six or seven feet north of the car. Tire marks on the shoulder of on the car. were found soliih of where the car was found in the ditch. The ciir swerved towards the west. side of the road, then brick in the centre. and then took a second swerve towards the west, side. It was about 450 feet from where the cor took its first swerve to where it was found in the ditch. The roadl was 32 feet wide. The witness said. he would say the car turned ovcrl about three times to account for the way the hood wot flattened and the other damage. Constable MacDonald last witness.
