-JUL: 14. 1953 ' I st. Teresa's School closing Last Weak on the afternoon of June 23, the closing exercises of St. Teresa": school were held in the Parish Hall. The stage was appropriately dec- orated in Coronation colors. The red, white and blue streamers led to the centre of the stage where they joined over a large poster of ;he Queen. Merlin Gormley, Grade Ten, an- nounced the various numbers on me program, which began with O Canada by the school. Sevcral numbers which had been entered at the Musical Festival were re- peated. These included I. solo, "The Cradle Song" by Helen Brad- ley; two-part chorus. "Flower Carol"; a duet by Anna Evans and Patricia Nicholson; choral reading, i'Please. Safety First", and "The Three Little Kittens" by Grades 1. 2 and 3: chorus. "Misty Morning"; Gregorian chant. "Salve Regina”. Grade VI presented a literature lesson. after which Grades VII-X had 1 history review. Grades IV and V presented a morality play, "Every Boy”. The Primary pupils two songs, "Beauty and I and "Underneath the Shady Trees". Elizabeth Lawlor, Grade I. recited ”About Teeth", and the pupils of Grade II dramatized The Three Billy Goats". Follow- ing the distribution or prizes the final number. a pageant entitled "God Save The Queen” showed the various countries of the Brit- ish Commonwealth of Nations pledging their allegiance and Joy- slty to Her Gracious Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. While the children enjoyed a treat of ice cream served by the ladies of the Women's Institute, the parents viewed the best work of the sewing classes which was on display.
