NOT NOW. Not now, my child—a littie more rough tossing, A little longer on the billow’s foam, A few more journéyings in the desert darkness, And then the sunshine of thy Father’s home. Not now, for I have wardens in the distance, * And thou must call them in with patient love ; Not now, for I have sheep upon the mountains, And thou must follow them where’er they rove. Not now, for I have loved ones sad and weary, Wilt thou notcheer them witha kindly smile ? Sick ones, who need thee in their lonely sorrow ; Wilt thou not tend them yet a little while? Rot now, for wounded hearts are sorely bleed- And hen must teach those widowed hearts to sing ; Not now, for orphan tears are thickly falling ; They must be gathered ‘neath some shelter- ing wing. Not now, for many a hungry one is pining ; Thy willing hand must be outstretched and free ; Thy Father hears the mighty cry of anguish, And gives his answering message to thee. Not now, for dungeon walls look stern and gloomy, And prisoners’ sighs sound strangely on the b jestne Man’s prisoners, but thy Saviour’s noble free- men, Hast thou no ministry of love for these ? Not now, for Hell’s eternal Gulf is yawning, And souls are perishing in helpless sin ; Jerusalem’s bright gates are standing open Go to the banished ones and fetch them in ! Go with the name of Jesus to the dying, And speak that name in all its living power ; Way should thy faltering heart grow chill and weary ? Canst thou not watch with me one little hour ? On+ little nour, and then the glorious crowning ; Tne golden harp strings and the victor's palm; One little hour, and then the hallelujah ! Eternity’s long, deep thanksgiving psalm ! ES I ne A Beautiful Legend. There is a legend connected with the site on which the l'emple of Solomon was erected. It is said to have been occu- pied in common by two brothers, one ot whom had a family but the other bad none. Oo the spot was a field of wheat. Qa the eveniog succeeding the harvest, the wheat haviog been gathered in shocks, the elder brother said to his wife: “My younger brother is uoable to bear the burden and heat of theday. I wiil arise tuke of my shocks and place them with his, withvut his knowledge.” The youoger brother, being actuated by the same benevolent motives, said withio himself: “My elder brother has family and | have none. I will coatri- bute to their support. I will arise take of-any shocks, aud place them with his without his koowledge.”’ Judge of their astonishment when, on the following morning, their respect- ive shocks were uodiminished. This course of events transpired for several nights, when seach resolved in his own miod to stand guard, and if possible, solve the mystery. ‘They did so, when, on the following night, they met exch other half-way between their respective shocks with their arms full. Upon | hallowed by such associations as this was the Temple of King Solomon erected —so spacious, so maguificent, the wonder and admiration of the world. Alas! in these days, how many would sooner steal their bruther’s whole shock than add to it a single sheaf. The cheapest and most effective dis- iofectant and deodorizer for purifying and destroying sewer gas, foul uir aud sul- phide of hydrogen and ammonium, gen- erated in sewers, sinks, cesspools, and on board passenger ships—the main cause of 80 mauy fatul fevers and epidemics—is a solution of chleride of lead. To prepare this solution on a small scale for use, take one-eighth of an ounce of lead and dis- soive it in one quart of bviliag water, dissolve an ounce of pure common salt in about five gullons of water. Mix the two solutions, and when the sediment subsides pour off the clear solution and keep ia » demijohn for use. A cloth dipped in this solution and hung up in a sick room, or a little of it dashed into a foul sink, will instautly dispel all offensive odors, by uviting with and neutraliz ing it. Roserr Youna, Sole Agent of P. E. Island, South Side Queen Square, Charlottotown, Nov. 30, 1878—2aw tf The Greatest Medical Diseovery since the Creation of Man, or since the Commencement of the Christian Era, There never has heen a time when the heal- ing of so many different diseases has been caused by outward application as the present. It is an undisputed fact that over half of the entire population of the globe resort to the use of ordinary plasters. Dr. MELVIN’s Capsicum Porous PLASTERS are acknowledged by all who have used them, teact quicker than any other plaster they ever before tried, and that one of these plasters will do more real service than a hundred of the ordinary kind. All other plasters are slow of action. and reyjuire to be worn continually to effect acure; but with these it is entirely dif- ferent: the ‘nstant one is applied the patient will feel its effect. Physiciansin all ages have thoroughly tested and well know the effect of Capsicum; and it has always been more or less used as a medical agent for an outward application; but it is only of very recent date that its advan- a in a porous plaster have been discovered. Being, however, convinced of the wonderful eures effected by Dr. Metvrn’s Capsicum Porous PLASTERS, and their superiority over all other plasters, they now actually prescribs them, in their practice, for such diseases as rheumatism, pain in the side and hack, and all such eases as have required the use of plasters erliniment. After you have tried other plas- ters and liniments, and they have failed, and you want a certain eure. ask your druggist for Dr. Metyin’s Capsicum Porous PLASTER, You can hardly believe yourown convictions of its wonderful effects. Although powerful and quick in its action, yon can rely on its safety fo: the most delicate person to wear, as it is free from lead and other poisonous material commonly used in the manufacture ef ordin- ary plasters. One trial is a sufficient guarantee of its merits, and one plaster will s~*Ui hundreds to your friends. Ask your druggist for DR. MELVIN’s CAPsI- cum Porous PLASTER, and take no other; or, on receipt of 25 cents for one. $1 for five, or $2 for cee. they will be mailed, post paid, to gny address in the United States or Canadas, MANUFACTURED BY THE NOVELTY PLASTER WORKS Lowell, Mass., U. 8.
