Tlfl£EACHEN dmwfrlhtf QOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOQOOOO 1 News was received._here on Satur’ day of the death ln Woollaston, Mass., of Miss Janie Power, daugh- ter of Michael Power of this City. She was eighteen years old and well and widely known in Charlottetown to many friends who will regreh to learn of her early death. No de- tails were received. The body is expected to arrive by the train this evening. , _*_ , ‘ The management of New Wonder- land wish to correct a report. preva- lent in the City pn Saturday night, that Miss Lottie McKinnon had sev- ered her connection with that then.- tre. Miss McKinnon still remains as the popular and efficient vocalist there, and the new management as well as the patrons of the theatre would greatly regret if the false re- port were true. Contractor D. W. P. Reid arrived from Halifax on Saturday night to see how work is getting nlong,at the new railway wharf in this City. Mx. Reid has lately been in New BrunB_ wick, where his firm is engaged on an important contract. He is pleased with the success that has at- tended recent cement. work' at the wharf here, and considers that the most difficult part of the work has been overcome. The new film service for New Won- derland commences this evening, ,md lt is from one oi the finest supply houses in America. Clear, steady Pictures are assured; the choice of subjects will always be good, and Reginald Cox the operator in charge of the motion picture machine at New Wonderland; is one who knows his business to a ninety, thus assur- ing a perfection of program which is sure to please. The increasing attendance at New Wonderland on Saturday evening must have been most encouraging to the new management, as the house .was packed almost the entire evening while the program was one of the finest yet given. The hearty reception given the pictures as reel after reel was put_ on plainly showed how Charlottetown audiences acl; when _they are well pleased and get exactly what they like in entertainment. The clearness and steadiness of the plc- tures were restful to the eye and the new management are to be congratu- lated as this is one ox' the things to be most desired in moving pictures. Miss McKinnon is certainly a favorite with Charlottetown audiences and her song Top 0'the Mornin on Saturday night simply brought down the house. She is most winsome in responding ,to encores, ol which she received many and Saturday evening, indeed -added many new friends to her list who.are waiting anxiously for other opportunities of hearing hor. Mr. Haines had made a name for himself with his magnltlclent voice and splendid playing and encore after encore met him nt every appearance on Saturday evening. New Wonder- land is certainly the place to go lor clean, spicy entertaining pictures and the latest instrumental and vocal music and the price is only live wuts. 12 to 7 was the tune played tn Junior Baseball at Victoria Park on Saturday afternoon. The Orlebars und Mic Macs were tho musicians and a more exciting contest could not have been wished for by the lagg; crowd of spectators, the Orlsba winning. It was the best game played this season, and the way the boys handled the ball was'surp.lslng. One play that drew forth applause was the splendid catch made by Dor- man, of Milford's line drive for which he had to jump high into the air, hereby robbing Milford of a three bugger und forcing other men to cling to thllr bases. The score was 8-7 in the seventh innings with three on base. Vanlderstine hlt and a w-ld throw by McLellan sent three runs home and settled Vanlderstine on third, only to be sent. home by another hit. There was no further scoring.
