During the month of May it was demolished and in its place is being erected a large, modern building. It was not without a twinge of regret that older citi- zens saw this old house passing For more than one hundred years it had stood there and its timbers had been hewn from pine trees that once grew on that very lot. Its floors were of two-inch plank fitted to- gether with gr.oove and tongue Joists were mortised and floor- ing was held in place with large wooden pegs. Built by Edwin Wai- lace, it was rented for some years to Mr. and Mrs. Ireland.
