Easterly winds, increasing to gale; cool, elondy to rainy weather. ee ~During the fiscal year which ended jast June, the old Provinces of the Dominion sent ten and a half million dollars worth of manufactured goods to Manitoba. The home manufactures found a ready sale in the West, and broke down the former American trade. It is but one of the many incidents of the beneficial home effects of the tariff. Canada, as a whole, prospers with the prosperity of any one section of her com- mupity. ‘TW TY-FOUR YEARS’ EXPERIENCE,” says an eminent physician, convinces me that the only cure for ‘‘ Nervous Exhaustion” weakness of the generative organs is to repair the waste by giving Brain and Nerve Foods, and of all the remedies I have used, Mack’s Magnetic Medicine is the best. TELEGRAPHIC NEWS. | on Trial, NEW FALL ‘GOOD | the Sees abouts of Ninet, the Swiss adviser | lof Arabi, who can prove that Arabi did} |not encourage looting and robbery on the | part of his men. Ninet can prove that Arabi ordered bedouins .to).be shot who were captured im the.act of looting. A Cairo correspondent ef one of the daily papers says that he believes that the evi- dence of Arabi’s complicity in the June massacres will be insufficient to seeure con- viction. Se far the evidence points in the other direction, and shows that Arabi did what he could to secure order, but seeing that he was powerless to_ stop the plunder, hastened away from Alexandria. Arabi declares that the British Government are to be blamed for the massacre at Alexan- dria, The presence ofthe British fleet in the harbor, and the action taken by the British officials, precipitated the Alexan@ria massacre, The Foreign Office is now in possession of | about eight hundred documents, containing the correspondence between Arabi and many officials of high rank. These papers were discovered by Wolseley after the battle of Tel-el-Kebir. They will be of great importance in arriving at a definite solution of the Egyptian Quastion. Victor Hugo has just published a power- ful appeal deprecating the execution of Arabi. The irial of Arabi is the chief topic in the press. Much sympathy is expressed towards the rebel, and the Government have been urged to take charge of the trial. ARRIVAL OF THE SICK. The “Times” on the Canal, The “Mosel” Enquiry, The Ismailia transport arrived safely at Portsmouth to-day. The vessel brought two hundred and eighty-six invalids. Thirteen of the invalids died on the way home. The Loudon Times now sees that there is a good prospect of a favourable understand- ing between England and France on the Egyptian qvestion. The Commission appointed to enquire into the loss of the ‘‘ Mosel” wrecked at Lizard, came to the conclusion that the Captain was entirely free fromm blame. It censured severely the first officer of the vessel, and cancelled his certificate. Resisting Russian Pressure, The Sultan’s Ruse. DAVITT ON | THE MOVE. Aleko Pacha, Govews ernor of Eastern Roumelia, is actively resisting Russian pressure in that direction. It is said that the Russian authorities are doing their best to control the appointment te command in the Roumelian militia. The Sultan’s acceptance of Said Pascha’s conditions of remaining in office is thought to be only a ruse of the Sultan, and that he has really decided to frustrate the Premier's plans. Davitt intends to go to Great Britain soon after the great National Conference. News reaches here that Winter has commenced in earnest in Russia. The nayigation on the Volga is now closed by the drift-ice. AUCTION! RARE CHANCE. Imported Stock, New Seed, Implements, Furniture, etc, Y direction of JAS.
