I Heather Growing- 0n- Alberion Farm . True scotch heather has been growing at Alberton for many years on a farm now occupied by Mr. Ben Profit. It is believed to have been brought to its present loca. tion by the parents of the late Mr. J. E. C. Hunter, who emi- grated to Prince Edward Island from Scotland nbout seventy-five years ago. Following the appearance of an article in The Guardian of Oct. 22 regarding the possibility of growing heather on the Island, Mr. Wilfred smith brought in some sprigs of what he claimed to bi- heather to The Guardian office at. Alberton which were forwarded to Mr. B. F. Tinney at the Experi- mental Farm at Charlottetown. In his reply Mr. Tinney stated that he believed the specimens to be Scotch, heather and said that some of the material had been sent. to Dr. Roland in Nova Sco- tia, who was an authority on the plant. No reply has been received as yet. It could not be learned if the heather originated from cut- tings, live plants or from seeds but the fact; that this heather flourished for so many years that it can be succemfully grown on Prince Edward Island.
