Holds 54th”, Meeting The 54th annual meeting of t Prince Edward Island Diocesan ,Bos.rd of the Woman's Auxiliary ' of the Church of England in Can- ada. met for its opening session in St. Peter's Parish Hall on Wed- nesday aft rnoon, March 7th..The meeting opened with singing of the hymn 'The Love of Christ Ccmstralneth". followed by pray- ers by Mrs. Cosh. Diocesan Pre- sident. The address of welcome was given by Mrs. Blythe Murray of St. Peter's Evening Branch, and fittingly rapondad to by Mrs. W. J. Dennis of Port Hill? Letters and telegrams of greet- ing were received from Mrs. Wodehouse. Dominion President, Mrs. Soward. Dominion Corres- ponding Secretary. Mrs. H. D. Ray-mond, Miss Audrey DeBloi.s and the various Diocesan Boards across Canada. In her inspiring letter, Mrs. Raymond. beloved Honorary President of the P. E. 1. Diocesan Board, reminded us of Ch:rist'.s command. "Go ye into all the world and preach the gos- pel to every creature" and His pi-misc "Lo. I am with you al- ways.” Greetings from the 'lihanir- offering Secretary, Mrs. W. J. Paynter, whose absence from the meeting through illness was much regretted. were presented by her daughter. Following the roll call of offi- cers, life m s, presidents and delegates, the minutes of the last annual meeting were read by Mrs. E. V. Bell, Recording Secretary. and approved. The Diocesan President, Mrs. Cosh, in the opening remarks of her address referred to present world conditions as a challenge to Christians to go "all out" in of Christ's command that we pray for our enemies. The meeting stood while the President spoke feelingly of the great loss sus- tained in the death of the Pri- mate, Archbishop Kingston. and remained standing while loving reference was made to the pass- ing of Mrs. J. T. lbbott, Mrs. W. E. Bentley. Miss Emma White and Mrs. A. M. Large. Sympathy was expressed for Mrs. C. H. Coles, lst Vice President, in her continued illness and regret that the meet. must be deprived of her helpful counsel. Regret was also expressed of the serious ill- ness of Mrs. W. W. Clark. only surviving charter member of the P. E. I. W. A. Miss Margaret Cot- ton. Corrcsponding Secretary. has resumed her duties and all are looking forward to soon welcom- ing her back to meetings. In a most interesting report of the year's work, Mrs. Cosh welcomed several new branches and spoke of the splendid work carried on during the year by the various departments. It is gratifying to note that -both the Thank-oflerzng and United Pledge Funds are again oversubscribed. The Presi- dcntls report closed with an ap- peai for prayer that as W. Waterman, B.A., D.D., Bishop of Novtiscotia. Bishop Waterman paid moving tribute to the late Archibishop Kingston and spoke of the debt we owe to all those who have done.their work well and passed on. it is our respon- sibility to carry on this work so that we may pass ,on.tho torch of the Christian gospel and the Christian Church. burning bright- ly. to those who come after us. The story of the Christian Church through the ages is of man learn- ing to live at peace with his fel- low man by learning to live at peace with God, and each gener- ation has its part to play. A pleasant feature of the after- noon's program was the presenta- tion hy the President, assisted by the Lord Bishop,of Life Member- ships to: Mrs. W. W. Owen. from Branch A of St. Paul's. Mrs. E. Malone, from St. Peter's W. A.. and Miss Eleanor Cisipvp, the gift of her mother. At the close of the meeting. tea was served by the ladies of St. Peter's W. A. and a social hour enjoyed. At 8 pm. a joint service for D. C. S. and W. A. was held in Paul's Church when the speaker was Bishop Waterman who was assisted in the service by the clergy of the diocese. The second day of the annual meeting of the P.E.I. Diocuan Board of the W. A. opened with service of Holy Communion at 7:45 a.m. in St. Peter's Cathedral when the celebrant was His Lord- ship. Bishop Watchman. The business meeting re-conven- ed in St. Paul's Hall at 10:15 with the 3rd Vice President. Miss Eva Dyer. leading. the devotional per- iod. The minutes of the previous day's meeting were read by Mrs. E. V. Bell and approved. Reports of the year's work were then given by the various officers. Mrs. G. D. De-Blois, Educational Secretary. gave a mist interesting report of that important branch of the work. She expressed regret .at severing her connections with the Diocesan Board and paid tri- bute to the work being done by the Deputy Educational Secretary. Mi-so Hemming. She urged mem- bers to make greater use of the library. Mrs. Cosh thanked Mrs. DeBlois for her splendid work during her years in office. Much credit is due Mrs. Del3lois and Mrs. l-lemming for their efforts which have made the study course this year so interesting and pop- ular with the branches. Letters written by Miss Audrey De-Blois l have been very timely and help- . ful also. Miss Harris and others who helped to make this work possible. She asked all to keep in mind the G. Rogers, once more re- ported an increase in subscrip- tions over the previous year and the Treasurer read a most en- couraging report from the Thank-offering Secretary. Mrs. W. J. Patynler. ' Mrs. S. Bryant, Dorcas Secre- tsry, was complimented by the President on a. splendid financial statement and detailed report of the work done by each branch during the year. There are 50 extra children in All Saints School this year and anything ex- tra that can be added to the bales will be appreciated. Mrs. I. Horne, Little Helpers Secretary, in her report thanked the parochial secretaries for work well done and called attention to Little Helper's literature on the table. Miss Maud Haslam, Prayer Partner Secretary, gave a splen- did report of the work of her department and read a heart touching letter from one of her correspondents. Secretarys were urged to keep writing regularly to their Prayer Partners not ex- pecting a reply more than once a year. Mrs. M. Weeks, Junior 'Secre- tary, spoke of the growth of work among Juniors during the year and of new br die: that have been organized ecentiy at St. Paul's. Summer id: and Port Hill. In her report. Mrs. T. E. Mc- Nutt, Cent-a-Week Secretary. asked that a special effort be made to increase the giving to this fund which goes towards the education of missionarie's child- ren. Mrs. J. T.
