As for the rest of Europe. it will undoubtedly be heartened by the expression of confidence in the ad- ministration which has produced the Marshall Plan, the Truman doctrine, and which is preparing. with bl-partisdn ‘agreement. to throw its military weight behind the Western European Union. Not, that any great change in American policy had been feared under the Republicans, ivhoee tenders have co-operated closely and with the best of goodwill in the development of what some have termed the first. truly rounded Am- erican foreign policy in history. But Europe was not inclined to forget even the few isolationlsts still harbored by the Republican Party.
