Dr. Macdonald is a native of Prince Edward island. THOMAS MIDDLETON Link with the old days of rating overseer: has been bro- ken in Harwich, Eng.. by the death of Mr. Thomas Middleton. father of Mrs. W. T. Cullen, Hillsborough Street, who several weeks ago received word of her father's passing. Mr. Middleton held the office of rating overseer for many years until it ceased to exist under changing legisla- tion. Mr. Middleton. who was eighty-four. was a well-known personality at Harwich where he was in business for a number of years and had been closely as- sociated with St. Nicholas Church. Formerly church secretary, Mr. Middleton became a sidesman and held this office until the time of his death. He was also a form- er secretary of the Unionist Working Men's Club of Harwicli. Mr. Middieton,kept a ship's charidler's business at Hsrwich. probably the only one of its kind left in the country with the ex- ception of one which is known to exist at Ipswich, England. Mr. and Mrs. Middleton had been married for 53 years. He is survived by his wife. three daugh- ters and a grandson. The funeral took place at St. Nicholas Church, Harwich, the service being conducted by the vicar. the Rev. J. S. Hole. Im- mediate mourners were Miss Olive Middleton. Mrs. N. A. Mor- gan, daughters.
