cloths.
The first counter on the left will be' for
hats and caps, the second for crockery-
ware and glassware, the third for
groceries, and the fourth for hardware.
At the rear is a small office; and just
below the main stairway are two neatly
dtted parcel rooms.
A broad landing staircase leads to the
second floor, the landing being half way
up the stair and fronting a large p1ate~
glass window overlooking the harbor at
the rear. Opening oil' this landing on
the left is the general office, which has
sglass front overlooking the main door
and with a projecting department for
the cishier where the cfish system, which
is on the L-imson ball carrier plan, put
in by the Lfimion iStoi'e Service Co., of
Boston, can be operated with accuracy
and despatch. At the rear of the ofhce
alarge flrepraof vault is built in a wing
on the building which is 8 x 16 feet and
apart of which also contains an elevator
running from top to bottom with rooms
onthe second and third floors for seal-
ing and opening goods. Turning from
right and left of the stair landing the
second floor is reached from either of
two runs of stairs. Just off the right
side and immediately above the landing
isa.ladics` reception room with an open
front from whicha magnidcient view 0

a part of the Northumberland Strait
