Do not, I pray you, fly to quack mixtures, or destroy the nervous sys- tem by a too liberal use of the pipe or cigar. “Come, let us reason together.” Throw your medicine to the dogs; the loss of a stray tanine or two would not be missed in our now over-populated dog Jife. Ten thousand people visited the Provin- cial Exhibition here to-day. The show of sheep, swine, horses and thoroughbred cat- tle was the finest ever made in Nova Scotia and is an evidence of the immense progress respects the Exhibition was very unsatis- factory. There is a painful absence of manuiactures and products of the mines and fishegies. There is only one exhibit of stoves and one of furniture, although Nova, Scotia occupies the fore- most place in these lines, while the manu- factures of sugar, cotton, rope, woolen knitting, hats and caps, foundries, machine shops, boots and shoes, tanneries and Other factories are entirely absent. This is a serious drawback to the Exhibition, and very much to the discredit of Nova Scotia manufacturers. The fruit show is not equal- to that of other years, from the fact that the fruit has not matur- ed, and the Exhibition is being held a week earlier, and the season being ten days later than usual. There are no special features in connec- tion with the Exhibition. Yellow Fever. or 27. JACKSONVILLE, Sept. There were 150 cases of yellow fever re- ported to-day and eight deaths.
