The late Mrs. Smith .wss the for- mer Marls Callaghan of North Wilt- Mrs. John Callaghan. On Aug. it she was stricken with a stroke from which she failed to recover. Despite all that medical Drill and tender cars could do. it seemed of no avail. . She passed pescef "y away at the age of 11 years. , During her illness she was fre- quently visited by her pastor. Smith along with all her family except one at her bed side when she passed away. She will be greatly missed in the community, but more so in the home for she was of such a home- lovlng disposition. Her funeral which was largely attended, took place on Aug. 27 to St. Joseph's Church, Kelly's Cross, where Re- quiem High Mass was celebrated by her pastor, Rev J. Smith, who also officiated at the grave, where the remains of a loving wife and mother were laid to rest in the cemetery to await the glorious resurrection. Sealed in the sanc- tury was Rev. Charles McCarthy, P. P., of Lot 05. Her six sons were her pall- bearers: Messrs. Joseph, Leo, St. Clair. Anthony, Linus and Francis. STEWART 5 On Sunday, July 25th, 1954 the people of New Argyle and sur- rounding districts were saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Miss Edith Pearls Stewart in her 51th year. She had been in fall- ing heallh for some time, at the age of nine years she was stricken with paralysis that left her handi- capped yet she was never known to complain. She bore her illness with Christian patience and fortitude, because she believed in God which brings us comfort to day and lived up to that belief we sorrow not as those without hope because we know what is our loss is her gain; that sweet life which we learned to love is not dead, but has passed on to the larger life beyond the Vale. Mass, who predeceased her rec- ently; also nieces and nephews to mourn the loss of their true and faithful friend. The funeral at the home and grave which was largely attend- ed was conducted by her pastor the Rev. J. H. Bishop. Ten post-graduate scholar- ships are to be offered annually. These Scholarships provided un- der War Memorial II are offered annually to enable students to carry on post-graduate work in History, Philosophy, English or French Literature. These scholar- ships are tenable at any Univer- sity in the British Empire. The scholarship may be awarded for a second year to the same candi- date. 2.
