There can be no mis- take upon this point for itis proved by this tangibiu The large demand for this tobacco shows it to be true, and the character of the demand gives further proof, It has never been of the spasmodic kind, up one month and down the next. It has been a sus tained and constantly increasing demand. The unsurpassed quality of the tobacco ac counts for this. ; evidence. —— <= For the last two months the Metropolitan Detective Agency, on behalf of the Dominion Minister of Finance, has been investigating a $2 bill swindle which has long and success fully been operated throughout the Dominion. They succeeded in arresting a saloon keeper in Montreal, who after three or four days con- finement in jail, stated that he was guilty and would help the detectives to find out the mavufacturers. He has, however, slipped, and has written a letter from the States acknowledging he behaved badly and that he has betrayed the confidence put in him. Nearly 250 of these bogus bills have been pre- sented at some of the Montreal banks. satelancstil The steamer Worcester, Capt.
